| The Doctoral Programme of Psychology's study programme has been designed to facilitate the completion of the doctoral degree within four years. Approximately two thirds of the studies consist of dissertation work and one third of the studies, e.g. theorethical and methodological studies and other studies supporting the degree. Most dissertations consist of 3-5 articles, of which the doctoral student is the first author in at least three, and which are published or accepted for publication in international high-quality scientific journals. |
| Instruction and supervision in the Doctoral Programme are based on three main principles: |
|
1) personal guidance from the doctoral student's own supervisors in recearch groups |
| 2) workshops organized by research group(s) or team(s) |
| 3) joint courses and events on general methodology, reseacrh ethics and other recearch skills |
|
The annually changing course programme in the Doctoral Programme includes variety of courses: courses on researching skills and methods as well as more specifically outlined studies and workshops. |
| Twice a year, all supervisors and postgraduate students are invited to a two-day symposium. At the event, students present their articles and have a chance to receive feedback from others besides their personal supervisors. The symposiums also function as discursive forums for various universities and research groups. Several events are usually held in English, providing graduate students a chance to practice international congress presentation skills. |
